R. Murray Schafer argues for critical listening, and he gives us the terms keynote sound (e.g., background sound), signal sound (e.g., foregrounded sound), and soundmark (e.g., a community sound).<\/p>\n<p>&gt;&gt;&gt; How do we learn to listen? Consider your audiographies, which suggest that&#8212;through habits&#8212;we become so familiar with many sounds (especially keynote sounds) that we learn to ignore them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jenteryteaches.com\/205\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/interactive_history.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80\" title=\"interactive_history\" src=\"https:\/\/jenteryteaches.com\/205\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/interactive_history.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"265\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(5) We&#8217;re also determining how to learn about media theory and history by actually composing new media. Which ones are altered?
